Uruguay considers same sex marriage

Uruguay has moved closer towards legalising gay marriage, after it approved a bill that defined civil marriage as between “two people of different or the same sex”. If the bill becomes law, Uruguay will become the second South American country to allow same-sex marriage, following in Argentina’s footsteps, which legalised gay marriage in 2010.
